About Us

The Swedish- American Chamber of Commerce of Fort Lauderdale & Palm Beach was formed in 2013.

We are a registered “not-for-profit” organization with our operating office based in Fort Lauderdale. Our focus is in Fort Lauderdale and the Palm Beach area.

We are a member of the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce USA, umbrella organization, based in Washington D.C. SACC-USA was founded in 1988 and today consists of 19 regional chambers. Together we serve 2,300 members in Sweden and the U.S.A., which makes us the second largest European Chamber of Commerce organization in the United States.

As a regional chamber of commerce, we realize that it is because of our members that we can exist and it is thanks to our members that it is possible for us to build and uphold a strong organization. In order to maintain a solid foundation, we, the Board of Directors, all have agreed to follow a set of values/qualities to which we expect all our Members to adhere to as well:

Trust (honesty and integrity)
Ownership (members act as owners; ease of access and use)
Diversity (range and variety of members / services e.g. events as well as change / innovation)
Camaraderie (sociability / social inclusiveness and common purpose / interest)
Fun (convenience / ease of use and social comparability)

Our chamber offers programs and services, frequently in collaboration with the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce USA, to promote bi-national commerce, trade, and cultural activities between Sweden and the Swedish-American Community in South Florida, particularly Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach.

We look forward to grow and develop our chamber together with you – Our Members!

Resources

As a regional Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce chamber, we are able to offer our members programs facilitated by SACC-USA.

Some of the most popular programs are SACC-USA’s Trade Mission/Visitations Programs and the Trainee Program/J-1 Visa Service. Both which aim to facilitate and connect knowledge and information between the U.S. and Sweden.

The Trade Mission program was established to help Swedish companies and business regions to explore the U.S. market and gather information about certain fields of interest.

The Trainee program was developed to assist Swedish students and U.S. businesses to tap into each other’s knowledge and expertise and to promote diversity by introducing U.S. companies to the Swedish business culture and vice versa.

Trade Mission

SACC-USA Trade Mission/Visitation Programs are designed for Swedish companies and business regions that want to explore the U.S. market and gather information about certain field of interest. The trade mission/visitation program should be considered as a first step for companies to evaluate their potential to establish or expand in the U.S. and for business regions to form strategic alliances that are mutually beneficial for their region and their potential U.S. partner and attracting companies to their region.

The program is executed in close cooperation with SACC-USA’s Regional Chamber network. Regional Chambers have a unique understanding of the various market conditions in different states and an invaluable network of local contacts. Regional Chambers can assist with everything from partner searches, business matchmaking and market research to practical matters of establishing and/or expanding a business.

SACC- USA J-1 Trainee Program

The SACC-USA Trainee Program provides U.S. companies with highly qualified trainees from Sweden. Consider this a cost-efficient way of accessing Swedish talent and technology while adding some cultural diversity to your office. For the trainees, a training program in the U.S. is the opportunity of a life time. Talk about win-win!

SACC-USA is a J-1 visa sponsor designated by the U.S. Department of State. This means that SACC-USA is authorized to issue the document DS-2019 which a Swedish trainee needs to take to the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm to receive a J-1 trainee visa.

The SACC-USA Trainee Program and J-1 visa service can be used for everything from summer internship for a student from Sweden to a longer training program for someone who has just graduated to an 18-month visa for a Swedish employee in a rotation program. Use of the Exchange Visitor Program for regular employment or other work purposes is strictly prohibited.

There are five broad types of trainees in our program:

  • Trainees who have found a host organization with SACC-USA’s help
  • Trainees at SACC Regional Chambers
  • Trainees who have found a host organization on their own
  • Swedish students writing their Bachelor or Master´s theses for a U.S. company
  • Employees of Swedish companies who need to go to the U.S. for training with a mother company, subsidiary or business/joint venture partner

For more information, please visit SACC-USA’s website: http://sacc-usa.org/trainee/
